How Destiny 2 Ends For Every Major Character

PUBLISHED·2h ago·5 min read

It's the end of the road for Destiny 2, and now that the final content update, Monument of Triumph, has been released, longtime players are exploring an epilogue for the game that was only just getting started on its new saga. While plenty of plot threads are left dangling in the wind, Bungie has crammed a ton of resolutions into Destiny 2, giving multiple fan-favorite characters a fitting ending and a launch vector for new stories, if the studio ever returns to the series. Many of these endings are hidden in lore entries scattered across the game, but if you're looking to find out what new paths these beloved characters embark upon while battling god-like puppetmasters in what would have been the Fate Saga, here's a closer look at what happens to everyone at the end of Destiny 2. Zavala After weathering several crises, stopping existence from being folded into an imperfect moment of time, losing his Ghost, and dealing with his traumatic past, Zavala is finally calling it a day. The longtime commander of the Guardian Vanguard has decided that with only one life left to live, it's time for him to retire. In a cutscene, the stalwart defender of the Last City speaks about how centuries and battles have taken their toll on him, but through it all, he's still proud of the Guardian and their hard-won victories. Ikora Ikora is getting a promotion in Destiny 2, as she is now the de facto leader of the Guardians and their commander as head of the Vanguard. Eris Morn Everyone's favorite Hive god of Vengeance, Eris Morn, isn't taking a break from all the action. Instead, she's committing to ending the Hive pantheon once and for all, as she's planning to track down and kill her "sisters" Xivu Arath and Savathun. Drifter Drifter's ending was established by the end of Renegades, but it's still worth revisiting just to see how much this character has changed since he was introduced as the shifty Guardian running rounds of Gambit. For years, Drifter insisted that attachment would get the player killed and that they should always have an exit strategy, but after finding a new home and falling in love with Eris Morn, the rogue Guardian finally decided to stop running. A major supporting player in Edge of Fate and Renegades, Drifter no longer had one foot out of the door and instead chose to fight alongside his new friends and family. Crow Formerly known as the Awoken Prince Uldren Sov, Crow took over the position as Hunter Vanguard following the end of The Final Shape. Crow still hasn't been fully accepted by the Hunters as their leader--despite Cayde-6 absolving him of his guilt--but he continues to soldier on in his position of authority. Mara Sov For eons, Mara Sov has been searching for her lost lover, Sjur Eido. Believed to have been killed during the Reef Wars, VI of the Nine has revealed that Sjur still lives. The only catch? VI--speaking through Xur--informs Mara that if she stops aiding the Last City, she'll find Sjur, who is currently lost in time. Mara instead chooses to reject the offer and continue her own search for Sjur. Lodi A new fan-favorite character introduced in Edge of Fate last year, Lodi is a time-stranded Emissary of the Nine who is going to be around for a long time. In one lore entry, Lodi claims to be 30 trillion years old and has become a god-like entity. Still experiencing time in a unique and non-linear way, Lodi is now focused on reuniting with his lost family and transforming them into beings that can survive the end of time with him. Osiris Years back, Osiris lost his Ghost Sagira and his connection to the Light, rendering him mortal. While he has been on all kinds of adventures since then, the old Warlock has realized that time is finally catching up to him, and he won't be around forever. Osiris is making preparations for his inevitable death and has begun recording messages for his partner, Saint-14, for when he is no longer around. Eido The Eliksni scribe of the House of Light, Eido, has been on plenty of adventures with Guardians since her introduction a few years ago. Her ending is much simpler and heartwarming, as after being estranged from her father for a while, it looks like Eido has begun to reconnect with Mithrax and regularly calls him. Clovis Bray The AI copy of the Golden Age scientist has been sulking on Europa since the events of Beyond Light, but he's attempting to mend his relationship with the Bray family--in his own selfish way. Convinced that he can help fulfill the prophecy of binding the Nine, Clovis has requested his granddaughters arrange the construction of an exo-frame to house his mind and a seat amongst the Vanguard to lead humanity. It looks like some things never change. Savathun Another loose end, Savathun and her Lucent Brood remain active in Sol. The Hive god of Cunning has been approached by Dredgen Bael on behalf of his master, VI, to slay Maya Sundaresh. What's in it for Savathun? Sundaresh's Echo of Control--which, unknowingly, Su
