Government for a new era: Where do we go after the trauma of Trump?
The American experiment has endured wars, depressions and constitutional crises, but the current moment has degraded the government and the services it provides, politicized the nonpartisan, merit-based civil service and undermined the rule of law, and it is important to look ahead to a time when we can repair the damage and build a consensus to improve the functioning of our government.
