Hey GameSpot community, We've got some big news to share: GameSpot is migrating to a new platform. After 13 years on our old platform – a custom built CMS that served us well across different owners and different eras of web publishing – we're moving to WordPress VIP, a best-in-class solution that will allow us to shift our energy from maintaining a website to innovating on one. What this means for you First, there’s obviously a new look and feel. You may recognize this branding work from our videos and social channels, but it hasn’t made its way to the site until now. Page layouts have been modernized, the actual text is easier to read, and everything from images to ads will load faster. This is a top-to-bottom overhaul of the site that will serve as a foundation for the coming years and decades of GameSpot, so we can continue serving as your trusted guide to all things video games, from the games themselves to the culture around them.  What's coming with you Your GameSpot account will move over to the new site, same email, same password. There’s no re-registration, no password reset emails, it just works. What isn’t coming yet are the old site’s user-generated components. We took a long look at how you all used the site over the years and, due to lack of attention and increased competition, it’s clear that these tools didn’t meet your needs anymore. To be clear, we think there’s even more room for innovation here, and this migration is intended to help us capture it, and that starts with deciding where we can and can’t win. And one last thing here: while comments aren’t enabled at launch, we will be migrating those over in the near future once we catch our breath. What's next We're rolling this out gradually rather than flipping a switch overnight. For a window of time, traffic will be split between the new site and the old one — some readers will land on the new experience, while others will stay on the current site while we monitor things and iron out any wrinkles. If you get the new site, but want to go back and peruse any of your contributions on the old site, those addresses will continue to direct to the old site during this window. That’s gamespot.com/login/, gamespot.com/forums/, gamespot.com/pm/inbox/ (private messages), and gamespot.com/profiles/. We'll update this post with a cutoff date for when we'll sunset those pages. Feedback If you hit a bug or something feels off on the new site, please let us know! You can reach us here. But this migration isn't just a backend project — it's a chance to rethink what GameSpot should be in 2026 and beyond. So we're asking: What do you want from GameSpot?
